Signs

A sign that I need to go lock the medicine cabinet.

Sylvia, walking toward the bathroom, rubbing her belly in anticipation:

"Hmmm, I sure am HUNGRY for some TOOTHPASTE!"

A sign that I need to stop blogging and go do some parenting.

Eleanor, in her "listen-to-me-I'm-the-teacher" voice:

"Sylvia, watch closely because this is what you'll do in a minute when you're in the laundry basket."

[THUNK THUNK CRASH as the plastic laundry basket goes bumpity bumping down the stairs].

A sign that truly, I have married the right man for me.

Eli, seeing me paint the girls' fingernails, wants to have his fingernails painted, too.

"Want pink," he declares.

Tobin gently picks him up, rummages through the shoe-box of nail polish, and finally selects the brightest, sparkliest pink.

Tobin's eyes dance as he exclaims:

"Oh boy, Eli! This pink'll knock your socks off!"

Sorry, what did you say? I was distracted by the practically blinding beauty of your children. ;)

Seriously. They are gorgeous.

Oh, I can just hear all of my favorite Zerba voices! I can't wait to hear them in person in just a few short months...

And Tobin, you truly are awesome! I have hundreds of stories from my time in the cosmetic industry with fathers (and mothers) behaving badly

That is AWESOME. My husband is pretty liberal, but Zach's pink obsession is driving him over the edge.

You married well, indeed. that would never happen in our house.

So much better that he had someone else put the nail polish on him, rather than taking matters into his own hands. If you saw my son's floor you would see the result of a little boy wanting pretty pink "toe-nee-nails" like his big sister! Your kids are so cute!

Adorable!

I married a good one too! He didn't bat an eye when our oldest son was 3 years old on his first trip to Disneyland and wanted to buy the pretty princess doll as his special present. We still have that doll and it always makes me smile- especially when I look at my boy in his ratty jeans toting his skateboard.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello and thank you for commenting on Home Visits in America. I appreciate your comment!

This post made me smile, and reminded me of all the beauty that exists right here within the walls of my own home. I remember when my girls were younger and they painted their Daddy's toenails bright red. They were so happy!!!

You children are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing such sweet stories!
XO

Hola, Tobin and Ally. This is Steve Calwas bumping into your lives once again.

I see that you have both been very busy since we last met!

For the past seven years, I have been living in Madrid, Spain. Haven't visited the US for about five years. Been learning to paint and draw. However, need to start selling now; necesito dinero. Interested in supporting a starving artist?

Come on over to Madrid some day! Hasta luego.
