In the Spirit of Christmas

Today: Sylvia, lacking all of her usual sparkle and spunk, nestled into her fuzzy orange blanket on the couch. She threw up and rested alternately.

I left the room to wash out the throw-up bowl. When I returned, I saw that Eleanor had written a love note to Sylvia, using her finest Best Guess Spelling. She affixed it to the couch with transparent packing tape, lest a strong wind arise and blow away the message.

Amid the pungent smell of barf, I gathered up this moment like a gleaner collecting grain.

I treasured it and pondered it in my heart.

How touching! I hope Sylvia feels better soon! I'm sure with a loving note from her sister, she will. :)

Emily & Monica, thanks for asking about my sis. It was a ruptured appendix that was plaguing her, it had been ruptured for about three weeks, they're guessing. So her body had formed a wall of absesses in order to prevent the spread of infection (smart body, that!) but part of it attacked her colon, too. So after having all the gunk and half her colon removed, she's doing much better. Her baby is doing just great and has not tried to come out early. Thanks everyone for you kind words, thoughts, and prayers for her!

Oh... I hope she is feeling much better by now.

Big J once wrote Little T a "get well" card when they were young. I saved it. I knew I would always want to remember his pure act of kindness. I'm glad I did. It has restored my faith on more than one occasion.

Oh that picture of Sylvia...poor baby! But how cute is it that Eleanor tried to cheer her up with a letter.
I love it when my kids do wonderful things like that for one another.

Happy New Year!

Not much worse than that sound, and not much more precious than that letter.

Oh Allyson! How fun to find your blog. It is going to be fun to look though your archives to peek in on your life. What darling munchkins you have. I can't quite get over this picture of Sylvia-she is darling and just looks like you and Alicia. Did you picture this life, as the mother of three, when you were in High School? I didn't- my expectations were not high enough on the one hand, on the other I had no idea how many bottoms and noses I would be wiping. Please tell your husband and sister I said hi. I was praying for her during her trauma-the M-F communication lines were open. So glad she and the baby are okay. Looking forward to your blog...Tiffany
